Marco Polo Usability Feature Testing
Context
Marco Polo is dedicated to drawing people closer to their loved ones. Their mission is to facilitate and encourage real and meaningful connections.
Task
I was tasked with coding usability tests for a new feature that Marco Polo is developing, using a 3-point and 5-point scale, conducted through usertesting.com.
Questions
-
How do users interact with this specific feature within the Marco Polo application?
-
What are their initial thoughts and impressions?
Process
Usability Testing: Some of the evaluations I specifically coded were:
-
Name fidelity of the feature
-
The participant's excitement to try the feature before onboarding
-
The participant's comprehension of feature after onboarding
-
The lack of confusion of use
Results
After coding for each evaluation, compiling qualitative data, and taking detailed notes throughout each test, I wrote a clear and detailed report on important themes and trends I found throughout, with unbiased impressions that were used used by the Product team for design reiterations of the feature.
I have also conducted intensive literature reviews on studies and articles examining subjects such as loneliness, social isolation, social connection, social media use and it's correlations with mental health and compiling them into a shared database with the Marco Polo team. By gathering this information, Marco Polo is making a concentrated and serious effort to network with leading experts in the field and ultimately understand people and their needs and motivations, in order to produce a better product for their users.
